Current status

The Holly & Ivy still hasn't arrived and we're due to get the swap addresses today. Unless someone backs out or someone has joined in the last few days, there are going to be 24 of us. So I'm 5 Holly & Ivy squares short. When I get the addresses then I'll be into assembling, addressing and posting the 18 sets of squares that I have got.

This will be a distraction from my latest project - which I'm very excited about. I've started the 'Learn to knit afghan' from Elizabeth Walker's book. The wool used in the book is 'Worsted'. My bit of research, for worsted wool in the UK, led me to Cascade 220 - which I could only find on show in one shop in England - Get Knitted in Bristol. So I made my pilgramage during a trip to the South West visiting my in-laws. As the other purpose of this trip was for dh to attend a day long conference of the Central Council of Bellringers, he indulged me with 2 trips to Get Knitted.

I was looking forward to going to Get Knitted but it was even better than I had imagined - a huge shop with most of the yarns I've come across when surfing the web, couches for husbands and a play area for children.

In the end I made a last minute change to Lamb's Pride Worsted because I preferred the combination of colours I could get. The 15% mohair may make me regret this decision in time, but at the moment I really love it. I've knit 3 squares so far - photos to come.
